Alhamdulillahi rabbi al ‘alamin
We’re now in the month of December, year 2010. In fact, the first 10 days have passed. How time flies.
Personally, this month of December has something significant to us.
As the Hajj season is already over, most of my (-in laws) family members who went to Mekah to perform the hajj has and will be coming back home this month. I know Pak Uda husband & wife (Mrs Farizal’s parents) are already back, and in few days time Dzul’s Pak Long, Pak Ngah, Mak Andak and Mak Su Tah will be home.
Mabruk Ya Duyufur Rahman.. Semoga ibadah haji kalian mendapat mabrur dariNya.. amen.
On the 7th of December, the Muslims worldwide have just celebrated the new 1432H year.
Salam Maal Hijrah
Verily those who have believed and those who have emigrated and have striven hard in the way of Allah, all these shall hope for the mercy of Allah, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. (Al Baqarah:218)
It’s high time for us to praise Allah and pay our highest gratitude to Him for His endless blessings.
Hijrah and Sacrifice are two very closely related entities. To do hijrah (literal meaning: move from one place to another. Exact meaning in Islam: improvement, betterment, to change for the better), one needs to offer sacrifice.
We muslims celebrated Eidul adha about a month ago. And we can’t avoid but to always associate this eid with sacrifice, as it is a sunnah to sacrifice an animal on this day in reminiscent of the event of Prophet Ibrahim a.s and his son, Prophet Ismail a.s.
As a matter of fact, there are three phases of sacrifice in Islamic history that have to be reminisced by all Muslims.
The sacrifice of Habil and Qabil, sons of Prophet Adam a.s. -The quality of the sacrifice and your sincerity are what matter most
The event of Prophet Ibrahim a.s. sacrificing his son, Prophet Ismail a.s. – All about being an obedient muslim
The many sacrifices of Propeht Muhammad s.a.w and his companions, especially before hijrah and the opening of Mekah.
Verily, We have granted you (O Muhammad (SAW)) Al-Kauthar (a river in Paradise); (1) Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice (to Him only) (2) For he who hates you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), he will be cut off (from every posterity good thing in this world and in the Hereafter). (3) (Al Kauthar: 1-3)
Let’s hope this new year offers us lots of opportunities to become a better mukmin, and insyaAllah muttaqin.
